The redevelopment of the historic Beaverton Bakery buildings in downtown Beaverton culminated in the creation of Canard Beaverton, a new outpost from the award-winning team behind Le Pigeon. This location marks the third expansion of the Canard concept, bringing its playful, French-inspired cuisine to the heart of Beaverton’s historic core.
Housed within a former theater, our team guided the adaptive reuse project—overseeing strategy, design coordination, tenant improvements, and construction delivery. The front portion of the approximately 4,360-square-foot structure, including a mezzanine level, was transformed into a 3,400-square-foot restaurant space tailored to Canard’s dining experience. Specific improvements include core and shell structural upgrades, creating new exiting and back of house circulation for deliveries and trash, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) distribution throughout each tenant suite, the addition of a 1,400 SF commercial kitchen and associated prep kitchen, custom casework, banquette seating and back bar elements. As part of the exterior restoration, the original theater marquee was carefully rehabilitated and repurposed as Canard’s primary signage, celebrating the building’s history while creating a bold and recognizable street presence.
Working in collaboration with Mark Annen of Annen Architecture, the design preserves the character of the original structure while introducing modern systems and spatial efficiencies. The result is a layered, welcoming environment that reflects both the building’s history and Canard’s distinct culinary identity. Today, Canard Beaverton anchors the revitalized building, contributing to the ongoing evolution of downtown Beaverton as a destination for food, culture, and community.
